Dividing any number by 5, 50, 500 and so on

Dividing a large number by 5 (five) is actually very simple. All you do is to

multiply by 2 and move the decimal point to 1 digit left.

To divide by 50, move the decimal point to 2 digits left and to divide by 500, move the decimal point to 3 digits left after multiplying the number by 2.

Example: 3195 ÷ 5 =?

Step 1: 3195 × 2 = 6390
Step 2: Move the decimal point to 1 digit left: 639.0 or just 639

52978 ÷ 5 =?

Step 1: 52978 × 2 = 105956
Step 2: 10595.6

To divide by 50, move the decimal point to 2 digits left and to divide by 500, move the decimal point to 3 digits left after multiplying the number by 2.

45289 ÷ 5        = 9057.8
45289 ÷ 50      = 905.78
45289 ÷ 500    = 90.578

And,
4321441234 ÷ 5     = 864288246.8
4321441234 ÷ 50   = 86428824.68
4321441234 ÷ 500 = 8642882.468
